Ingredients

Biscuit Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk cold

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Pastry Cutter
  • Rolling Pin
  • Biscuit Cutter
  • Freezer
  • Pastry Brush
  • Cooling Rack

Method

  1. Preheat oven and line a baking sheet using parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt evenly inside a large mixing bowl together.
  3. Cut cold butter into flour until crumbly texture with pea-sized pieces appears throughout.
  4. Pour cold buttermilk slowly while mixing into soft shaggy dough carefully by hand.
  5. Fold dough gently several times for flaky layers without overworking texture badly later.
  6. Roll dough lightly and cut biscuits evenly using a floured biscuit cutter carefully.
  7. Bake until tops turn golden brown with fluffy centers and crisp buttery edges beautifully.

Notes

Use cold butter for flaky soft biscuits or bake longer for crispier golden edges later. Freeze unbaked biscuits on a tray before storing inside freezer bags safely. Handle dough gently to avoid dense texture during baking. Add cheddar cheese, herbs, garlic, or honey for flavor customization. Store leftovers covered for up to three days at room temperature safely.
