Ingredients

Brownie Batter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour leveled
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Hand Mixer
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Square Baking Pan
  • Parchment Paper
  • Cooling Rack
  • Freezer
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar together until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined and slightly thickened.
  4. Whisk cocoa powder, flour, and salt together in a separate bowl.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently until no dry streaks remain.
  6. Stir chocolate chips evenly through the batter for extra rich bites.
  7. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan using a spatula.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes until edges look set and the center stays slightly soft.
  9. Cool brownies completely before slicing for cleaner squares and fudgy texture.

Notes

For fudgier brownies, remove them while the center still looks slightly soft. Bake longer for cakier texture. Freeze sliced brownies tightly wrapped for quick desserts later. Chill brownies briefly before cutting cleaner squares. Add walnuts, caramel swirls, or peanut butter chips for flavor changes. Store brownies covered for up to five days.
