Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease loaf pan lightly.
  2. Beat 1 cup butter and 1 ¼ cups sugar until pale and fluffy.
  3. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Combine 2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt separately.
  5. Add dry mixture gradually, alternating with milk.
  6. Stir in ⅓ cup lemon juice, zest, and vanilla extract.
  7. Pour batter evenly into prepared pan.
  8. Bake 55–60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to rack.
  10. Mix powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
  11. Drizzle glaze over cooled loaf before slicing.
